Protected from all adversities: vandal-proof lighting solutions for public spaces
Light is an essential component of modern urban and landscape architecture as well as a functional element in public spaces. It illuminates, accentuates and designs. The requirements for durable lighting solutions in outdoor areas accessible to everyone are high.
In addition to protection against various weather conditions such as wetness, cold, frost and heat, the luminaires must be as vandalism-proof as possible. The luminaire manufacturer dot-spot offers various lighting solutions, from recessed floor luminaires for trees and facades to light lines for handrails and benches to column luminaires for pedestrian zones and parks, which fulfil these high requirements in an outstanding manner.
The Franconian company focuses on quality in materials and design. In-house development and production as well as cooperation with manufacturers of street furniture result in durable, robust lighting solutions that defy weather, environmental conditions and, thanks to certified impact resistance of at least IK08, vandalism.
For effective illumination of plants, trees, façades and objects, dot-spot comes up with three powerful recessed floor spotlights of the brilliance series. With the same compact housing size of 110 mm depth and a diameter of 72 mm (diameter of cover 100 mm), power ratings of 6 W (575 lm*), 10 W (985 lm*) and 20 W (1,840 lm*) are available for different applications. In the ds version, the spotlights are also protected against theft because they can be screwed into place. A honeycomb glare shield to reduce glare is optionally available.
Two special features underline the quality and functionality of the spotlights: the luminaire unit of the spotlights can be swivelled and thus aligned in any direction, the THERMOCONTROL technology avoids overheating and thus failure of the spotlights during long lighting periods, especially in combination with possible solar radiation. The brilliance recessed floor spotlights in the ds version can be integrated flush with the surface in the standard functional opening of the MEIERGUSS tree grates 2.0 using a special adapter set.
A vandal-proof handrail system for public areas, parks, bridges and footbridges is offered by dot-spot in cooperation with DAIDALOS inox profile systems. With LUX GLENDER - SAVE, a security profile is installed underneath the cover so that it can no longer be opened without special tools. This prevents access to the luminaire unit, which dot-spot manufactures for this system to measure in the desired colour temperature and luminous intensity in protection class IP67. Covers are available in opal-symmetric, clear-symmetric and clear-asymmetric versions for the different applications.
With the LED light lines of the slimlux product series, dot-spot offers elegant and robust linear lighting solutions in the different versions for effective accent lighting, stylish design or brilliant lighting in public spaces. The different designs prevent vandalism in terms of construction and installation type. In addition, the luminaires of the slimlux series show brilliant homogeneity in combination with strong luminosity all along the line. Depending on the application and field of use, the light source is enclosed in an aluminium or V4A stainless steel housing or, as a flexible solution for tracing free-form shapes, fully enclosed in a polyurethane jacket. The light lines can be installed in concrete and asphalt floors, façades, stone or concrete elements, or surface-mounted for direct illumination. In the variants of the slimlux od series, they can even be driven over. The individuality of the possibilities is underlined by the customised production of the lines. dot-spot makes the LED light lines to measure for specific projects.
Imposing, monumental, powerful: the lux columnar light column from dot-spot sets new standards for spectacular lighting solutions in public squares and parks. With a total height of up to four metres, an impressive, uniformly homogeneous column of light rises above the solid V4A stainless steel base of the column. The light tube with a diameter of 200 mm is made of impact-resistant, UV-resistant PMMA and is therefore ideal for use in public spaces. For easy maintenance, lux columnar can be swivelled at an angle of 90 degrees despite its imposing size thanks to a special mechanism in the base so that work can be carried out on the ground. Since the columnar luminaires are manufactured project-specifically, dot-spot offers the columnar luminaires in individual sizes. Already imposing and eye-catching as a single luminaire, lux columnar unfolds its design potential in combination with several steles in the area. If it is varied in its respective height, there are no more limits to the design possibilities.
And the development continues. In particular, the safe and low-maintenance lighting of pedestrian tunnels and subways is currently the focus of the Franconian company. In development: a robust and elegant LED lighting solution that, due to its design and positioning in the tunnel, offers almost no surface for vandalism.
